From 5th - 12th August 2007, Rockley Watersports are offering a special
Mirror week at our La Rive campsite in south west France. This is a great
opportunity for Mirror sailors to bring their own boats and enjoy a great
family holiday. Situated on the shores of beautiful Lac Cazeau the 4 star
campsite provides a superb environment for a variety of watersports. You can cruise the lake or learn to sail or race with the assistance of RYA qualified Mirror Instructors and Coaches. It will be a great way of taking the family Mirror to a warm, sunny and safe location to share the Mirror experience with other likeminded owners
Armada Training Clubs. The Mirror Class Association is trying to encourage more ordinary sailors to get some basic training and beyond in order to to get more out of their boats of whatever age and condition. If you are a Mirror sailor and are looking to learn with other Mirror sailors and are wanting to be taught how to get the most out of your boat then the clubs listed below will be able to help. The training will follow the RYA National Sailing Scheme from start sailing to advanced racing though it is up to you how far you want to progress. Some clubs may not offer all levels of training - the extent of what is offered is decided by the clubs as are the costs of participating. Click here for details

Class Race Training is run by the Class Association and some Mirror clubs for those preparing for Class open meetings and championships. It is designed to bring novice sailors who can sail at RYA 2 or 3 in the NSS into club racing and to develop their skills, knowledge and confidence in order to progress to the extent of their abilities. It is also intended for experienced sailors to improve their skills and develop crewing partnerships for competition success. There are three syllabus levels: Beginner - for those who want to start club racing: Intermediate - to improve skills to take part in open meetings: Advanced - to extend knowledge and techniques in order to take part in class championships. The courses provide the relevant RYA racing certificates via a logbook upon completion as well as credits to the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme. Details of the three Race Training syllabuses can be found here

Club Open Coaching is originated, organised and run by some clubs in conjunction with some area Traveller series open meetings and is for any sailors taking part in club open meetings and local traveller series. Club Open Coaching is based on the MCA open coaching syllabus and provides race coaching on an ad hoc basis at clubs holding open meetings as part of the Mirror Area traveller circuits. The coaching can be offered as a training day prior to the open meeting or at and during the open meeting itself. Clubs wishing to hold open coaching events should click here for information and book them as soon as possible. Details of the MCA Open Coaching syllabus can be found here.

Mirror Squads ~These exist (according to age) to provide the ambitious junior talent emerging from clubs and class training schemes with a progressive pathway leading to class championship and international competition. These squads form a fundamental part of the RYA Team GBR development programme and the Mirror is the official double-handed junior training dinghy in this world class development programme. All these squads train in the winter month and are supported by funding programmes. The three squad levels are the:

Zone Squads ~ these exist for young sailors (10 - 13 y.o.) who have some racing skills and wish to train for zone and area championships. The squads are the next step up from club open racing and exist in the North, East, S.East, South, S.West and West zones. Selection to the squads is in October from qualifying events in the summer and results from area traveller and class open meetings. The Class Association has organized open coaching in the autumn as part of this selection process - see details here For further details on zone squad selection information go to: http://www.ukmirrorsailing.com/ and click on training/zone squads

National Squad ~ this exists for the best talent (11 - 15 y.o ) emerging from the zone squads to train for national, international and world championships in the Mirror and as a pathway to qualify for the RYA youth squad in other classes such as 420, 29er or Laser.
