A Mirror dinghy rigged up in a garden

Wood hull built by W. Green Esq. . Sailed at Thames Estuary YC

Measured by C.W. Patience & certificate issued by the Mirror Class Association

1969  - 2004

Purchased by Adam Tuke's family, sailed for a couple of weeks each summer, otherwise dry stored

2005 - 2006

Sailed at Middle Nene SC in Northamptonshire

2007 - 2020

Dry stored

This boat was advertised for sale for £250 , details were:

Mirror 5782 for sale – yes 5782, so she probably qualifies as a “Classic”!

My family have owned her since 1969. Initially for the first 5/6 years she was used for just a couple of weeks each summer and then laid up. She has been in dry storage since 1969 apart from just two years in 2005/2006 when my son sailed her at Middle Nene SC in Northamptonshire.

All the components are original, except for the stays and halyards which were replaced in 2005. The hull needs some work on the main seam, the fibreglass tape having laminated from the hull over approx. 12”.

She will never be a racing boat but like a classic car, she could be a link to Mirror history for a new owner.

She comes with an old Snipe road trailer and a cover.

All proceeds to Sailability – I suggest £250 . It would be a shame to toss her on the bonfire.

She was sold in November to a new owner. Adam said "The buyer is buying it for his 10 year old godson to learn to sail. He was given a dinghy by his godfather and so has always wanted to do the same. An ideal home for the boat – I am pleased for it to go like this after over 50 years ownership."
