2011 MBSC review by Rob Bode;

2011 has seen the first Mark 3’s arrive at the club, one of which has been acquired by the  evergreen Tony Clee by way of an 85th birthday present to himself; we further celebrated this with an endurance race, doing laps around St Michael’s Mount, in aid of Cancer Research UK. The race was won by new joiner Rebecca Stephens who, with crew Lisa Prichard, provides the club’s first National Squad representation since Lisa’s brother Josh.

After a winter of theory, we have had the first dedicated Mirror training in over five years take place this summer and, whilst the weather was against them this year, this should see the fleet expand significantly in 2012; particularly as there is a strong band of new trainees ready to enter the pipeline this winter. The fleet has had a steady turnout (average 6) throughout the season and for the first time since 2008 sent representatives to the Nationals.

In 2012, as a result of the dedicated Mirror training program, we hope to finally acquire some competitive Mirrors for training and, with a healthy number of new helms coming through, significantly increase our regular turnout whilst supporting South West Zone events in larger numbers.
