Chichester YC Mirror Open - 15th October

The Chichester open on Saturday 15th of October had a very good turnout of 15 boats and a variety of 7 clubs. With very tricky, shifty conditions the boats sailed a tactical race. The first race gold medal was taken swiftly away by Grace Yeoman and Izzy Barker, however on race 2 the number one spot was Isabel Davies and Jonnie law. The competition hotted up with favourite Nigel Thomas and Millie Moss taking the number one spots for race 3 and 5. For the final race anyone of four boats could have won the regatta, however Isabel Davies and Johnnie law kept their nerve to win the final race and clinch the whole regatta.

This also being the last event in the southern traveller series the class presented  Midge and Harriet Watkins the traveller prize just ahead of helms Jo Kalderon and Katie Davies.

Poole YC Mirror Girls Taking Part In French 420 Nationals

A lot of you will know Anna and Rosie Watkins, two Mirror Class junior sailors, who have regularly participated at National and European level in their Mirrors, with their sisters Harriet and Midge. This week they have teamed up themselves and taken a 420 across to Cherbourg to take part in the French 420 Nationals. This is an excellent chance for them to build experience in the 420 arena and prepare them for competitions next year, when they will be campaigning their 420, in between more Mirror sailing.

Rosie was also busy at the end of June in the Itchenor Schools Regatta in her 420 where, with ex- Mirror sailor and fellow Poole YC member Evie Clemence, they won the event taking the Sir Richard Fairey Trophy for the 420 fleet, and were overall ladies winners in the Class.
