What to wear was created by KEVINJSTANLEY
Hi All
having been a motorcruiser person i have given up the engine for a sail, now not having sailed and then purchasing a mirror and trailing it on the purchase, of which if i had a camcorder would of made £250. i have noticed what people wear differs a lot. now i am used to shorts and t shirt but many seem to go with dry suits or at the least a wet suit.
my question is how often am i goner end up in the drink and therfore should i change my tshirt and shorts for a more weather proof clothing.

cheers

Kev

Hi Kevin,

it really depends when you will be taking her out ...

Mirrors are fairly gentle and rarely capsize unless it's really blowing and you're sailing hard.

You need to wear sensible clothing for the conditions - take into account the water temerature and expected weather conditions.

I usually sail in lightweight trousers or shorts and shirt I have a spray top if it's a bit windy or an old fashioned dinghy suit for when it's raining.

Where are sailing? That may make a bit of a difference.
