Hard for me or Trevor ?
Not really difficult as long as you can overcome a few hurdles. A complete novice(builder) may find it daunting and I would recomend they have someone they could seek advice / help from

For those interested in building a Mirror, see Phil Rust's account of building GBR 70362

The Mirror was designed to be easily built at home, and many tens of thousands have been constructed in this manner. It gives you a brand new boat for the cost of a second hand one, and of course all the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

Kits start from around £700 from Duffin, Phil was able to put on the water a top specification and competitive race boat for just over £2500

There are obviously lots of people with experience of building and repairing Mirrors, would it be useful to have a dedicated forum area ?

This has already been put in train. The idea is to have a build/repair webpage and a build repair forum (for which we need a moderator)so that all the historic and future chat can be logged under main headings. It needs a technical guru to run it and a volunteer is called for . We've asked a well known boat repairer to contribute his photos and articles on Mirror repairs to the site and with all this the FAQs can be answered by a click of a mouse.

For it to work it needs someone other than Simon to take it on. Let's hope it happens.

Thanks for that link, Simon. I'd never seen Phil Rust's article, despite exploring the site fairly thoroughly. This is probably a question for our hardworking webmaster, but where would one find the link to "downloads" on the MCA site.
I also noticed that both our builder/photographers have a bulkhead in the side tank in line with the thwart. Neither of the late 1970s boats I have had were fitted with this (I have a bee in my bonnet about access/inspection hatches in all tanks). When did it come in? Or does it depend who supplied the kit?

pigs might.....
