MEASUREMENT AND CERTIFICATION

If you want to get your Mirror measured you should first contact an RYA Approved Mirror Measurer - see below or contact the Secretary for the address of your nearest Measurer. The Measurer will advise you on the procedure, cost, etc. and either provide a Measurement Form or suggest you get one from the RYA. Once the boat has been measured the completed Form should be sent to the RYA who will issue a Certificate for the boat. Fees for certification are £13 for full RYA members and £18 for non RYA members.

If you have just bought a boat with an existing Measurement Certificate and you want the Certificate reissued in your name you should send the old Certificate to the RYA. If you do not have the old Certificate, or do not know if the boat has ever been measured, check with the Historian. If the boat has been measured she will have a record of it and will be able to give you confirmation to satisfy the RYA. BUOYANCY ENDORSEMENTS

Each Certificate contains a number of "boxes" for recording the annual buoyancy check which has to be carried out under the Class Rules. The Class Rules now allow for buoyancy checks to be carried out by an approved RYA Measurer.

GENERAL QUERIES ABOUT THE CLASS RULES

Queries about the Class Rules and their interpretation or application should always be addressed to the Secretary. This is required anyway by the Rules and the Association is anxious to keep an eye on any aspects which may be causing concern. The Secretary will either give advice based on an existing interpretation or put the query to the Class Technical Officer, Alan Bennett, who can, if necessary, take it up with the RYA or the ISAF.
