NOTICE OF EGM

Sunday 6th March, 12.00 - 14.00 at the Dinghy Show (Palm Court)

A special meeting will be held to debate the various options for the new Bermudan Rig. Depending on time there will be the opportunity to discuss other key Mirror topics.

The 2004 AGM approved the concept to allow an optional all alloy Bermudan Rig (click here for background), this will provide a cheaper and easier to rig alternative to the traditional gaff rig. These are important factors in ensuring the longevity of the class.

The Technical Committee have been busy considering options for the new rig. These can be summarised as follows ;

1. Two piece, round section mast with external track.

2. Optional one or two piece mast, with choise of sections, including an extruded mast.

Performance testing has been conducted over the last year at a variety of venues and events, with a cross section of sailors and has shown no obvious difference between the different rigs, including the existing gaff rig.

The EGM will be your chance to have your say over which option the class takes forward.
