The new Mirror Southern Area Winter Series was a great success, hosted by Chichester YC and sailed over eleven races. With 21 boats the series attracted a good cross section of Mirror sailors, including several parent and child teams, Zone and National Squad members, and junior teams. The majority of races were sailed in light shifting winds from the North, with a couple of races seeing a moderate breeze.

With six different winners, the racing was extremely close, with many place ch anges and final positions often split by seconds. In the end, consistency and staying power were rewarded, seeing local Martin Orton, with daughters Stephanie and Alexandra taking turns to crew win from Graham and James Griffin, also of CYC. Father and son team, Simon and James Lovesey of Warsash were third on count back, drawing with juniors Shaun Mason and Emma Spruce of Hill Head SC.
