Mirror Zone Squad Coaching
The Zone Squads started in September 2000, and again benefit from Sports Council/Lottery funding. These are for the best junior talent within each Zone, who wish to progress to the National Squad. The age range is typically from 11 to 14, although there is scope to take sailors outside of these ages. The Squads train for six weekends over the winter & spring, with a ratio of six Mirrors to each coach boat.
Selection for the squads will be made by a selection panel, who will consider several factors including performance at the two autumn Open Coaching events in each zone and the Zone Winter championships. The size of the Squads will depend on the number and quality of sailors applying for places.
For the good club racer, the Zone Squad is an ideal opportunity to progress to the next stage and make new friends.
