Inaugural Mirror Spring Championship 2026 at Bassenthwaite Sailing Club

Bassenthwaite's inaugural Mirror Spring Championship, sponsored by Ginger Boats, opened in dramatic fashion as Storm Dave forced racing to be brought forward on Saturday.

Strong winds caused major retirements, though James and Meris Date took the first win ahead of Will and Izzy Crocker, with Phil and Lucy Smith third. Andy and Olivia Tunicliffe won race two before conditions became too severe to continue. It was encouraging to see so many juniors braving the weather, including several all-junior helm-and-crew teams who handled the conditions impressively.

Changes to the way Mirror Class Association membership works

Hi all. This is to let you know about some changes to the way Mirror Class Association (MCA) membership works. For 2026, we are making the following changes:

• Membership will run calendar years rather than from the date you take out your membership. Previously we have had the bulk of the membership join in the last 24 hours before the nationals. This creates significant administration in the lead up to the event.
• Changing to calendar year membership, enables us to better track subscriptions.
• We have introduced a Direct Debit option so that you no longer have to go through the administrative burden of renewing every year.
• We have changed the criteria such that if you wish to compete in two or more of the newly introduced circuit events (events with championship in the name), including the Nationals, you need to be an MCA member.
