The Menai Strait Regattas fortnight is one of the UK ’s classic summer regatta series, offering sailing from various venues in the Menai Straits over a two-week period in July/August, and catering for all classes of sailing from dinghies to cruisers. Most people who know of the regattas will be familiar with the classic local boats which attend regularly, but historically it has also been a great location for dinghy racing, a tradition which we are looking to revive. WE ARRIVED at Mumbles Y.C. and one of the hosts jumped on the bonnet, led us to the car park, unhooked and rigged the Flag Ship, parked the car and had us in the bar in 5 minutes flat. Facilities in the Clubhouse are positively palatial — the hinterland provides everything for families, marvellous beaches,
climbing, outstanding scenery — the Gower laid at your feet — with good sailing in the bay and traditional Welsh hospitality. AND bottle walking.
