Friday 29th March saw the Northern Neil Pryde National Youth Development Squad arrive at cold and crisp Ullswater Yacht Club for their final day of winter training before the Northern Championships (Saturday through Monday) - the first of the Neil Pryde Nationwide series. Temperatures below zero and an awkward north-easterly wind off the mountains greeted the sailors and remained for the entire event, creating very shifty conditions with some wild gusts, presenting a challenge for even the most experienced sailors on the water.

Last weekend was a weekend to remember with regards to getting all the squads together and eyeing out our future opponents when it comes to the big competitions. It was fun-filled with the squads doing their own work individually in the morning and then coming together in the afternoons for some racing. Also on Sunday morning each squad did some individual fitness however after that, we all came together to do some team games (which the North Squad won all of-I hasten to add).
On Saturday 9th March some Mirror squad sailors and their willing parents took South Staffs Sailing Club up on their kind offer of some team racing. Four teams: Mirror youth, Mirror parents, South Staffs youth and South Staffs adults, each competed in six close races in which everyone had to remember and push the rules.
