A FUN SAIL FOR CANCER RESEARCH UK

Having proved ineligible for the Race for Life, Mount’s Bay Mirror sailor Tony Clee has come up with a novel way to celebrate his 85th birthday and raise some funds for Cancer Research UK.
This is an fun “endurance” trial open to all. The winner in each class will be the helm (and crew) who complete the most circuits of the Mount in the time that the Causeway is covered with sufficient water – about 5 hours. Competitors can drop out at any time or stop for lunch (or other reasons) and continue.

Race Report by Rachel Grayson
Eighteen boats turned up to race at Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club on Saturday, the weather was unpredictable all day and the wind was just the same, with the breeze coming over the clubhouse. However, a great days racing was had by all. There were a few dramas before racing as the Grayson girls’ main halyard came untied on shore and slipped out of the mast – Uh oh! Luckily Pete L-R was on hand to save the day and the girls sailed the rest
Seven Mirrors arrived on Saturday at Pennine SC to join in with the Mirror
training coached by Peter Lulham-Robison with the aim of improving spinnaker
hoists, drops and gybes. The plentiful wind saw a few capsizes and a good
days sailing was had by all, followed by a well earned BBQ for these camping over night.
Sunday produced a breezy and shifty wind from the NE. Race 1 got underway.
Will Hide and Emma Clayton were first round the
windward mark closely followed by Rachel & Matt Grayson and Richard & Adi Benson.
Unfortunately Hide and Clayton capsized on one of the gybe marks. By the leeward
