So it is just checking to make sure you get the full length lacing rope?
But wouldn't you take that off with the one piece mast?

Ye probaly because im 14 tomorrow and my mum and dad don't sail and so I have to rig my own boat while the other kids mums and dads rig their boats and it will be soooooooo much easiler with a once piece mast to rig and derig I also find that my gaff falls a little so that is why. And I was also getting new sails so I wasn't sure what ones to get with or without the holes because you could just take the rope off. I'll get the mast 1st see how my sails work on it now and then decide what sails but I don't get about the bolt rope and all that.

Are you going to get one ecover?

James, maybe your gaff falls because the cleat is worn out/the halyard stretches?

Thanks for the explination Simon,

I think I was thinking about gust response and being to to twist the sail the kicker. I had forgotton that our old mirror with wooden mast and gaff and zero bend are probably different from the new ali masts and racing gaffs.

A shame that carbon wasn't an option as they are so much lighter and therefore the righting moment is reduced significantly which is great for light weight crews. The Superspar carbon masts are very simply constructed as well so should not have been overly expensive. At some point in the near future carbon will be common place and much cheaper than it is today. I use one in another class and they're no faster but they do take 5kg out of the boat in right place.

Are one piece masts actually allowed yet for events? Because if they aren't I don't think there's much point of getting one until they are, not that I'm going to change.
